Ants
Ant trails into a building mean a nest somewhere nearby. Killing the trail does not kill the nest.
Ants forage widely and follow chemical trails, so what you see in a kitchen is a supply line rather than the problem itself. The nest may be under a slab, in a wall cavity or outside entirely.
Spraying the trail kills the foragers and leaves the colony intact — which is why ants treated that way are back within days.
Signs you have ants
- Trails of ants along skirting, worktops and door frames
- Small piles of fine soil at cracks or paving joints
- Winged ants indoors in the warmer months
- Activity concentrated around sweet or greasy food
Why it matters
- Contaminates food and food preparation surfaces
- Some species bite or sting
- Nests in wall voids and electrical fittings cause faults
- Persistent nuisance in kitchens and store rooms
How we treat it
We use bait that foragers carry back and share, so the treatment reaches the queen and the brood rather than only the ants you can see. Where the nest can be located we treat it directly.
We will also point out what is drawing them in — an unsealed bin, a gap under a door, a leaking tap — because that is usually what decides whether they come back.
